Living Your Best Life
Welcome to my inaugural blog. The purpose of the blog is to introduce you to simple things you can do to live your best life for as long as possible. Along the way we’ll explore topics like food, nutrition, sleep, movement, spirituality, hydration, forest bathing, relaxation, stress management and many others. All of these topics support and enhance thyroid function, as well as overall health.
If there’s a topic of interest to you, I’d love to hear from you. Please share your question on my connect form.
Let’s get back to today’s blog. Ask yourself the question,
Are you living your best life?
Today is an invitation to set aside pre-conceived notions and think about what that means for you. Everyone is unique, so your ideas may be very different from mine. That’s the beauty of the discovery process. Find what resonates for you and start creating a roadmap for getting there.
If health challenges are slowing you down or preventing you from living your best life, commit to learning a few new baby step skills that put you on the path to feeling better, having more energy and enjoying more time with family and friends.
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
The Scripture above is one of my ways to live my best life. Having a loving relationship with God and entering into His rest is one of my favorite daily practices. There are many spiritual practices that invite participants into connections beyond ourselves. It’s a no cost Baby Step skill that can be cultivated anytime and anywhere. Belief in a loving presence greater than yourself is not only comforting, it reduces stress, anxiety, selfishness and offers a sense of purpose.
Without a sense of purpose, can you really live your best life? Purpose is what propels us to be better than we are. Purpose causes us to think beyond ourselves. Purpose invites us to invest in the lives of others. Purpose gives life meaning.
For your first Baby Step skill, I invite you to find your unique purpose for living. Finding a quiet place of rest is often a great place to start; a place where your mind can roam free in solitude and peace.
When I’m walking on the beach, I feel the presence of God in a way I don’t feel in other settings. I’m surrounded with the vastness of His creation. Birds are playing. Kids play with joy and abandonment. People are floating unencumbered from the stresses of the day. The sun sparkles on gorgeous turquoise waters. Billowy clouds dance in the sky. The sound of gentle waves crashing on the sand bring peace. Gently crashing waves around me ground me & remind me that there’s something much larger than myself beyond the horizon. I delight that God grants me the privilege of seeing His amazing creative beauty. I stand in awe and amazement. My heart is at peace.
My happy place
Today’s skill is to find a quiet place where you find peace & rest?
